Desires of the Dead”Desires of the Dead” is the 2d installment in ‘The Body Finder’ series. I liked the first book but was not happy with the crime part of the story. But I still wanted to read and see how things went afterwards so I picked up the second book. Crime and romance go well together, I mean it is a good combination to read. OK, may be this two shouldn’t really go together, but what I meant was it is fun to read.

Dead bodies calls to Violet, not only that but the murderers will also have this different smell and aura around them which will attract her like magnet. This echos and imprints help her to solve the crime cases for her uncle and father who works in the crime related department. Only those closer to her know about her capacity but when a dead boys body calls her she gets into trouble, now FBI are aware of her special instincts and they want her to tell everything about it. When she is happy dating her best friend Jay, there is this new guy and his sister in town who are kind of obstacle for her love life.

I rated this book- 3 out 5, compared to the first book it was brilliantly written. There was lot of suspense and crime detail involved which made this book an interesting read.

SpecialsSpecials is the third installment in ”Uglies” series. I liked the first two books but after reading this one I felt as if the series will never end! Tally, the protagonist female character of this book changes herself into every possible personalities available. First she was ugly then pretty and now she is special.

Tally is a special now, she has undergone this surgery to make herself super fast, skilled killing machine specially built to keep the uglies down and   pretties stupid. These special people are called as cutters, their main goal is to find New smoke and destroy it. But Tally is engineered to feel superior, she feels annoyed even in her pretty boyfriend’s company. She wants to change him into a special too, for that she follows a plan. A plan where her boyfriend can be turned into special and new smoke can be found and destroyed.

One of things I really enjoyed is how different Tally becomes in each book. From Ugly to Pretty to Special, her entire personality shifts and changes constantly as she undergoes not just plastic surgery, but mental surgery. But at the same time special Tally was annoying, it’s terribly frustrating knowing she’s been brainwashed, but she refuses to believe it. The way she looks down at her boyfriend made me hate her. But all together it was a bittersweet ending to the trilogy. Oh! wait, can I call it trilogy cause there is  4th book in the series- Extras. My rating: 2 out of 5. I would like to read and see what is there in the next book, but not right now.

City of Fallen Angels”City of Fallen Angels” by Cassandra Clare is the 4th installment in ‘The Mortal Instruments’ series. I knew it was not trilogy and a lot was kept open ended in 3rd book still the 3rd book felt like a right ending to me. The main villain was dead and romantic issues were solved and they lived happily ever after, right? Apparently not!

The war is over, Clary is back home with her mom and finally she can call Jace her boy-friend. Simon has new love interests and her mom is getting married to real love of her life. But the problems never seems to end. There is someone murdering the shadow hunters and provoking tension between downworlders and shadow hunters. Simon has his own problems to deal, his mother is freaking out after finding the truth about him. Jace has his own demons to fight, his nightmares are getting real.

I liked the conflicts and for my own surprise I liked this book better than the previous books. But Jace was really annoying and I felt frustrated reading their relationships going on and off. The ending OH GOD, there was this big cliff hanging moment which made me cry out loud with anger. My rating 4 out of 5.

The Fallen ”The Fallen” by Celia Thomson is the first book in ”Nine Lives of Chloe King”. I found this book to be captivating enough to have to read it in one sitting. I came to know that there is a supernatural TV series on ABC network based on a novel, before I started watching that I wanted to read these novels  very badly. I finished this book faster than I thought I would because it was really exciting.

Chloe King’s life was pretty average until she falls off the edge of a building and dies. Her body goes through some unusual changes of that of a normal teenager and she gets sharp cat like nails and reflexes. But suddenly she has this love life, there are 2 new guys in her life and a stranger who mysteriously  got a life threatening disease becuase of her. But the craziness does not end here, she has got this stalker who goes all ninja on her throwing blades and trying to kill her. Who is she? What is the secret behind her sudden changes? Who is this stalker and out of 2 boyfriends who can she trust?

I love cats, they are so cute and lovely. When I read the synopsis of the book I couldn’t stop reading right away. This book is unique and brilliantly written in such a way that the reader will not get bored. My rating: 4 out of 5, I highly recommend this to people who are into supernatural and were-fiction.

The Goddess Inturrupted

”The Goddess Interrupted is the second installment in the ‘Goddess Test’ series. I loved the first book in this series- ”The Goddess Test” and really loved the unique concept and twist in Greek myths. This book was bit slow going compared to the first book but I still  enjoyed reading.

Kate is back with her Husband Henry but he seems very distant. She believes that he is still in love with his first wife Persephone who left him for a mortal. Kate is immortal now but there is some greater power which can snuff her out along with the other gods whom she thought were untouchable. Cronus is back for his revenge and an insider helped him to escape. As everyone is fighting a lost battle with Cronus it is up to Kate to find a way to help her husband and other Gods. But for that she has to seek out someone’s help whom she never dreamed or wished of meeting, Henry’s first wife.

My rating: 3 out of 5. Other than the fact that it was slow moving, I like the story. I recommend this series to those who love reading stories about Greek Myths.

Out for Blood ”Out for Blood” is the 3rd installment in Drake Chronicles, a unique vampire series.I am not thrilled with this series, I liked the first book but then I kind of lost interest. It follows the same pattern in every book, Drake brothers and their forbidden love. I wish there was better character development for the main characters. Drake brothers are bad ass- handsome vampires but they fall for different kind. First one fell for a human, second for a hound princess and the third brother for vampire hunter. The whole bombardment of different and unique words to this story is making it annoying at times.

Hunter Wild comes from an ancient vampire hunter family. She is studying at the secret Helios-Ra Academy, where she is going through last year of training. Quinn is one of the Drake Bothers who is handsome but player. Hunter can’t fall for him going against entire league of vampire hunters and more than anything against her grand father who believes that vampires exists to be killed. There is an evil plan going on against the vampire hunters at school. What is the danger lurking in the school building? Will she keep her heart in control and away from Quinn?

My rating: 2 out of 5. It is nothing to do with the book, I was kind of bored with the plot and underdeveloped characters. But I am definitely going to read the remaining books as  have challenged myself to read the entire series! sounds crazy but true 🙂

Last Sacrifice”Last Sacrifice” is the final installment in Vampire Academy series. Rose is the number one reason that this series has lost its appeal to me. I liked the first few books in the series, but then Rose changed completely and I couldn’t bring myself to like this book. I found her to be egotistical, selfish,  impulsive and insensitive. I have finally finished the series and I deserve a meddle now.

When I first started the series the unique concept of vampire politics and the the whole Strigoi – Moroi thing seemed worthwhile. But then the last two books were basically centered around Rose and her undying love for Dmitri which really annoyed me. She had Adrian who was better person than Dmitri and she still wanted to play with his feelings by hurting him and drooling all over Dmitri. I don’t understand why girls always fall for jerks in the vampire novels. Like Jacob in Twilight here Adrian was rejected. I felt sad for him and hated Rose for using him.

Rose is a victim of foul play, she is getting punished for the crime she never committed. She has to find the another surviving Dragomir, Lisa’s half sister so that Lisa can get voting rights and Rose can free herself from the crime she never committed. But for that she has to run away from the prison. Will she succeed in this adventure of finding another Dragomir? Will she be able to prove her innocence in the murder of vampire queen? Who is playing these games and what do they want?

I am not happy with how the story ended. I liked Lisa a lot better than Rose and at the end both proved to be selfish. My rating: 2 out of 5. I read this just becuase I wanted to complete and get a closure to this series.
