The Book of Life”The Book of Life” is the 3rd installment of ‘All Souls Trilogy’, I was waiting to read this final book from a long time. Finally when I read it I was totally shocked! What a epic let down! The discovery of witches was one of my favorite reads from 2011 and from there I kept following this trilogy. Second book was also pretty successful read for me. My expectations were sky high for the 3rd one and now I am disappointed.

After traveling through time in the second book historian and witch Diana Bishop and vampire scientist Matthew Clairmont are back to present. But this time they are not alone, Diana is pregnant with Mathew’s babies and twin miracle is on the way. But  missing pages from Ashmole 782 is still a priority, and when this couple will find out the missing pages its going to get ugly. Mathew’s blood thirsty son is hunting for Diana, no one is safe anymore.

My rating: 2 out of 5. There were so many characters and boring stuff everywhere, which was hard to follow and remember. Mathew and Diana were no more young lovers in love they were more like an old couple who over reacted to everything. Finally All souls trilogy ends here and I successfully completed another series.

A Beuatiful Evil ‘A Beautiful Evil’ is second book in Gods and Monsters series. I read the first installment in the Gods & Monsters trilogy recently and fell in love with it. I was blown away with the setting as well as the mythological elements and while I did feel that a lot of that was a bit lacking compared to the first, then still it is a worthy follow up.

Athena has Ari’s father and Violet. Ari is learning how to fight Athena, all her strength and weakness. Under the threat of her Medusa curse she does not have much time to waste. Now that people are supportive of her idea she has access to ancient library. With little bit research and lot of  training she is now ready to take down Athena. But the war is not that easy as she thought. Her loved ones are at stake here, Athena is threatening to destroy her by using this weakness.

There were few things I didn’t like, for example Athena and Ari attacking and withdrawing many times. I don’t see why there should be more meetings between this two when there is not going to be any real action. And I hated Ari whining at everything like how her life was sad and how she hated the training. My rating- 3 out of 5.

Matagathi ”Matagathi” by Ravi Belagere is an excellent book I re- read last year. It is in Kannada language, a regional language of  Karnataka(one of the states of India). Many years back I read  it for the first time from my school library  and liked the storyline. This book is about Black Magic and fight between good and evil. You might have heard about Black magic and witchcrafts around European countries but in India it has different dimensions.  It is more horrifying and hell lot of difficult for one to achieve this power. There are cults and tribes continuing this type of culture for real, away from modern generation. I have no idea how true it is but I have read and heard a lot of things about them. This book was not listed in Goodreads, so I had to add this book there before rating. This book must be a work of fiction but the procedures, things and facts involved about black magic are for real.

Matagathi means the lady who does black magic, more or less like a witch. This is the story of a ruthless lady named Tejamma, whose hunger for more power killed a lot of innocent people and started wars between powerful people. She used everyone who helped her to climb the steps to achieve magic and killed them heartlessly. Her husband and his entire family was killed for her to gain great power. But there is only one person who can beat her down that is Agninath from a special tribe called ”Aghoras”. Its a horrifying tale of dark magic and the procedures involved to get the power is shocking. It can shake anyone who reads about black magic and steps involved to get it right.

My rating: 4 out of 5. It has a sequel named ” Sarpa Sambandha” where a lot of dark magic and snakes are involved. Not a very pleasant topic but interesting. I have already read that book, I will be reviewing it soon.

Taken at Dusk”Taken at Dusk” is the 3rd book in Shadow Fall series. I am reading a lot of series nowadays like ‘Vampire Dairies”, ”Vampire Academy”, ”House of Night”, and ”Drake Chronicles” it is really confusing to remember the stories.

Shadow Fall series is about Kylie Galen  who was sent to a supernatural school where she encounters all supernatural characters like fairies, were wolves, vampires, shape shifters and witches. But she is unable to find out what she is even though she has this ghost whispering powers and some  unknown special powers she can’t decide what she is. In the 3rd book Lucas is back and Kylie is about to fall for him but she learns that his pack is not happy with it. Even though she let go of  Derek there is something which is troubling her while looking his way. Now that Kylie knows who is  her real father, she is searching for real grandparents so that she can know where did her powers come from and do her kind have a name?

It is a good read, but you can only understand the story if you have read  the other two books in the series. My rating: 3 out of 5.

Untamed Untamed is the fourth installment in the popular House of Night YA fantasy series by P.C & Kristin Cast. After reading 3rd book in the series  ”Chosen” I was not sure weather I liked the series anymore. But ”Untamed” was interesting read.

Zoey Redbird’s friends are pissed at her, in one week she has gone from having three boyfriends to having none. With the brutal murders of two important vampire teachers, The House of Night has upped it’s security. But Zoey is not safe, dark evil is slowly raising it’s head. Neferet is playing a dangerous game and has decided to raise an ancient demon. There’s a new powerful fledgling in The House of Night: James Stark who Zoey Redbird immediately forms a connection with. But while going through change he dies! Eric is back but he gives her silent treatment for cheating on him. This book is full of suspense and it is the best installment compared to first 3 books in the series.

It is a good story but few things are repeated.  For example vocabulary lessons from Damien, dressing style of ”Twins” and they are not really related but how they are ”Twins” and how grandmother  calls Zoey the Cherokee word for daughter and how  the word makes her feel safe. People who are reading series will get bored becuase they have read it hundred times before reaching the 4th book. My rating: 2 out of 5. I wanted to give 3 for the interesting story but then looking at the writing style and repeated explanation I gave 2.

Awake at Dawn There are like 9 books to review in my ”read” list and I am too lazy to write reviews. ”Born at midnight” is the first book in Shadow Fall series which I totally liked and rated with  4 stars. ” Awake at Dawn” is also a wonderful book about supernatural creatures. Not only vampires and werewolves but also fairies, shape sifters and witches are part of this Shadow fall series and that makes  it different and interesting.

Kylie Galen is trying to fit in the school of supernaturals, there are vampires, werewolves, shape-shifters, fairies and witches, but Kylie is still trying to figure out who is she and where is belongs? She drinks blood and likes it a lot, everyone thinks she is vampire and going to change soon. But that never happens. She suddenly gets physically strong and emotional, everyone thinks she is about to change into a were wolf and that never happens either. But other that identity issues she has got boy friends issues. She was strongly attracted to Lucas, a hot were wolf but one day  he ran off the campus with a she wolf  but still wrote letters to Kylie saying he loves her! There is Derek, a sexy half Fae who’s always been there for her when she needed him, and now he is pushing her to get serious with him. She can’t decide cause she can still feel that attraction for Lucas. Its like relationship ship roller coaster  everywhere. She can’t forgive her step father for what he has done, and her human best friend seems changed and uncertain about their friendship. As she has this ghost whisperer power she is daily encountered by ghosts. But there is something dark lurking in shadow falls which is dangerous. Not to forget that Lucas is back and Derek is restless.

My rating: 4 out of 5. These supernatural books are driving me crazy. I always get confused with the story line of Vampire Academy, Vampire Dairies, Shadow fall series, House of night series, Drake Chronicles. Oh my God! so many series to read. I think there are more, but right now I can’t remember names.

howlsmovingcastleI love stories where magic is involved, like ”Harry Potter series” and  ”Chronicles of Narnia”. For some reason I have been reading a lot of good books lately, & I am happy that I found this book to read.

Howl’s Moving Castle is one of those books, that I wish I would have written it! Sophie Hatter lives with her step mother, step sister and a sister, being eldest sister she thinks that her fortune is not going to be good. She’s a young woman living in a world where fairy tales and magic are a part of everyday life. People are scared of Howl the wizard and witch of Waste. Because Howl eats young girl’s hearts and witch of Waste is dangerous. Due to some unexpected twists Sophie gets under Withe’s spell and she is not young anymore, she is old. Worst part of the spell is that she can’t tell to anyone that she is enchanted. Now Sophie, old and tiered wants to find a place to stay away from everyone, but she ends up getting into Howl’s moving castle. It is wonderful tale of Magic and love.I don’t know how to write more that that.

After reading the book, I watched animated movie by the same name: Howl’s moving castle. Movie was good, but I liked the book more.  You will travel to magic world while reading about  floating castle, talking fires, bouncing scarecrows, and amazing spells.By the way Howl is my favorite character apart from Sophie, oh my god! I like Michael too 🙂  My ratings are 4 out of 5.
