AllegiantI have been stuck with series, recently I am trying to finish reading the series from my ”to read list”. I am tiered of seeing them lie there for months and months. It’s not that I am eager to read, but keeping it for another time is headache. I just want to get over with it. It is like, I would like the first book and then struggle to read the sequels. Same thing happened with veronica Roth’s ”Divergent” series too. I liked the first book but then the sequels were boring. ”Allegiant” is the 3rd book in the series. (Thank god the series ends here) There are lot of prequels which I am not reading.

Faction based society is shattered with violence and betrayal. So Tris and Tobias escapes to the world which is unknown and past the limit. But reality there is even more worse than society. Tris has to struggle hard to protect her love and war is everywhere. It seems that Tris can’t escape her fate. This story is told from a  dual perspective, you can read the story from Tris and Tobias’s view.

What a bummer! first thing came to my mind was regret for choosing this series to read. I loved the first book but then the author couldn’t keep the same magic going on in sequels. So much of the book did not make sense at all, especially the genetics part which kept coming in second half of the book. I am a Biology student and I don’t see any meaning in how the genetics was used in the story(not that it matters). My rating: 2 out of 5. I wanted to give less than that but in the honor of Divergent I settled with current rating.

InsurgentI have left with few reviews to complete about the books I have read in 2013. Divergent is second installment in the Divergent series. I liked the first book- Divergent better than the second one.

Beatrice is called Tris now, after joining the Dauntless. First book ends with Tris and Tobias running away in a train to save what is left. Her family has been killed and now she has nowhere to go. But soon she discovers something which may raise the curtain from truth. Second book was little slow going and characters were little unsure. But this is a good book to read if you are a Hunger Games fan and you love reading books with strong female kick ass characters. There is nothing much to review about this book. If I give summery here I will be bringing the spoilers into my review.

My rating: 3 out of 5. This year I am planing to read the 3rd installment- Allegiant.

DivergentDivergent is a dystopian YA fiction I came to read when I was desperately wanted to read something similar to ”Hunger Games” series. This is no fight to death but some similar aspects caught my attention. There is a rebellion protagonist female character just like the HG series.

Here  society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue–Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On particular appointed day  all 16 year  olds must go through test to choose their faction. Its their duty to be true to their faction and choose what they were born into. When they select other factions they are considered as traitors in their old faction. Beatrice has to make a choice between staying with her family and being who she really is. But when she finally chose a faction she is in a fear of being faction less as she has to go through a lot to prove herself there. But her test results were kept hidden and the secret is known to only Beatrice and the invigilator about  something which can’t be revealed. There is something in Beatrice which will lead to change in everything something few feared from a long time.

I enjoyed reading this book, my rating: 4 out of 5. It may seem little high but I couldn’t give it 3.5. I recommend this to YA fans.
