13 little blue envelopesGood young adult novels are always refreshing. I am a young adult fiction fan, as most of the books I read are from this category. ”13 little blue envelopes” is a travel related different young adult story. It is the first book in the Little Blue Envelopes series. I liked the premise and enjoyed reading. Other than the dramatic ending the book was good.

Dead Aunt sends niece on this unpredictable and slightly loony journey. When Virginia Blackstone (Ginny) receives the first blue envelope from her Aunt Peg in the mail, it sends her on an exciting and unknown adventure collecting remaining 12 blue envelopes and finding the clue and places. It is like she is playing the treasure hunt game with her aunt again  just like how it was in her childhood, except that her aunt is dead now. 17  year old Ginny sets on this adventure without thinking twice and reaches her first destination London, from there on its one big ride. What is the intension of this journey? Where will this unknown adventure take her?

Its a quick read, I finished reading  this book in a day. I don’t know whether or not the places mentioned in this book are Geometrically correct because I have no clue about that. But it was one heck of a journey. Romance is very weak in this book. Love interest between Ginny and boy from London was boring. End was little dramatic and unexpected, it could have been something different and exciting. My rating: 3 out of 5. If you are looking for a adventure filled young adult travel fiction for a change, then this is good choice.

Girl at Sea”Two things you should think about: one, things aren’t always as they seem. Two, never piss off a girl with a very big knife.”

-Clio (Girl at Sea by Johnson Maureen)

Here is a great summer read, ”Girl at Sea”. Who don’t want to experience a nice yacht ride for a week in beautiful Mediterranean, clear summer sky, crystal clear water wherever you see. For most of us its a dream come true! But not to Clio. Who has to take this so called dream journey stuck with ever energetic, crazy, happy dad and his archaeologist girl friend and her blond,  kind, over friendly, goddess like daughter  and a archaeologist and engineer assistant. Wow ho! Its a lot to take at once. Clio is forced to go along with her dad leaving her dream boy alone in her home town.  Here only thing she has to do is cook for people in the yacht. Is it possible to kiss that assistant guy when her dad is around her and her new friend is dating him? They are headed to Italy but why everyone is hiding a secret from her? What are they really looking for? When she finds her answers to these questions she will be shocked.

It is a well written novel with lot of suspense and unexpected twist. Its not that great but I should say there is something in this book which will make you read it once you start reading this. It is a good young adult novel with lots of humor.

This is a story about three sisters who face all sort of problems after their fathers death. Its a tale of sisterhood, love and hope. I never read any books of Maureen Johnson before, so thought it will be interesting to read something new. And it didn’t disappoint me, it had the perfect balance between romance, conflict, and excitement.

Brooks is eighteen and is also a star softball player. Soon Brooks begins to hang around with the wrong crowd and starts drinking. Mayzie is sixteen and is considered to be the brains of the family. She is the only one, out of three sisters  who works and makes money for the family.  Palmer is youngest and she plays softball. As the girls mourn their father’s death in different ways, they realize that the only way to overcome the tragedy is to stay together.  There is this boy Pete, best friend from childhood who is ready to help them and support. How will they stick together? Where their life will lead them?

Its a teen read. I would refer this books strictly to only those  who like young adult novel and the family drama. Overall its a good time pass read.
