Mistakes Like Love and Sex”Mistakes Like Love and Sex” by Madhuri Banerjee is the continuation of the ”Loosing my Virginity and Other Dumb Ideas”. Books by this author has got catchy title, may be that is the reason why I bought them. Once in a while I have this strong desire to read books by Indian authors that is why I have piled up my shelf with many books. To tell the truth I didn’t enjoy the first book as much as I did the second. I remember giving it 2 stars out of 5. But an incomplete story is not fun, so I picked up the sequel and I am happy that it didn’t disappoint me.

After serious heart breaking and many failed relations our protagonist Kaveri is back, but this time she is with a handsome Spanish boyfriend  and a lovely job in far away country. But nothing lasts forever, soon she goes through difficult breakup and she is back in India, searching for a good career and her dream man. But as usual Kaveri is Kaveri! she gets into a hot mess with a rich- older man,has hot sex with a Bollywood superstar and works as a Hindi teacher for an upcoming actress. One thing leads to another and she is standing where she was in the beginning, nothing is changed. But when she enters the world of Twitter may be she is at the right direction!

I liked this book better than the first one so my rating: 4 out of 5. I really enjoyed reading this book there were lot of twists and it was never boring.

right-fit-wrong-shoeRight Fit Wrong Shoe by Varsha Dixit is an Indian contemporary romance. I don’t know after how many months I picked up a book from an Indian author. I bought this last year but as I was busy with my crazy project of  completing the series I didn’t get opportunity to read this. I loved the book ”Xess Baggage” by this author and was eager to explore more of her writing. As I expected this book was easy and interesting read, I read it in single sitting. The romance and the sexual tension between the main characters captured my heart.

Nandini is single and independent woman with a beautiful body and a good heart. There is nothing exciting in her life she is this average Indian lady who stays with her parents and does an average job. But she has a dark past which comes chasing her for revenge. This dark past which she is so scared of is her ex-boy friend Aditya who wants to ruin her life so badly. What is the story behind this love-hate thing? What did she do to Aditya to make him hate her? How her life will change after Aditya’s entry in her life once again?

It is totally cheesy, melodramatic Bollywood type novel. But I loved the chemistry and that little tension between Nandini and Aditya. Their chemistry was perfect, it has been ages since last time I read a novel this filmy. My rating: 4 out of 5. I am looking forward to read the sequel Wrong Means Right End.

Saga Volume 2

I am pulling out the 5 stars, if you are a close follower of my blog you will know that I don’t do this often. But this book compelled me to do that. From starting to beginning the book was so fresh and stimulating. Brian K Vaughan’s epic Saga continues, as does the awesomeness from the first volume! If you haven’t read the first volume then better pick that up before you start reading this volume.

A couple of star-crossed lovers from two different species  who are on opposing sides of a danderous war are on the run in a wooden rocket ship with their infant daughter and her ghost babysitter. What can be more exciting than this? But baby Hazel has this strange adventure to face- her grand parents.

Saga Volume 2

I am so in love with this series. I wish I could get my hands on volume 3 as soon as possible. This is totally 6 out of 5 stars category. You will agree with me after looking at this picture of our handsome hero from the book 🙂

Saga Volume 2

This Girl ”This Girl” is the final installment in ”Slammed series”. I’m going to start off by saying-I’m not a huge fan of books which are just a retelling of a previous book from a different point of view. Just becuase I enjoyed the first 2 books in the series I picked up this book. I knew from the beginning that there is nothing going to be new about the story.

This Girl takes place immediately after Will and Layken get married. They are lounging around in their hotel room talking about the past when Lake decides she wants to hear Will’s story of how they got together and what followed after that. It was more like a summery of previous books and if I start reviewing more I will give out the spoilers for those. So I  won’t go into detailed review. I felt like I was stuck in one of those TV series episodes where they all tell stories of what happened to them and they show the old shows within the new one,if you know what I mean.

My rating is 3 out of 5. I wanted to give 2 but then I changed my mind and gave 3. I am sorry to say that this felt like an unnecessary telling of a story already beautifully told.

15704307I thought of reading a graphic novel and picked up Saga without reading any reviews or knowing what it is about. Holy Crap! it was amazing, I haven’t liked a comic since Walking dead. I usually read comics like Bleach, Fruit Basket and walking dead. But first time I read science fiction and it was so good. There’s so much here! The characters are dynamic, the narrator is a baby or rather an adult looking back to when she was a baby and telling the story of her bad-ass, intergalactic war deserter parents.

The story begins with the birth of Marko and Alana’s child, an anomaly that the leaders of her side want to capture. We learn about the hatred between their planets and war. There are soldiers from both the sides and bounty hunters chasing them but Marko and Alana have some other plans to escape. I don’t think I can review the book more than this.

My rating: 5 out of 5. I highly recommended this book to comics fans. I loved every character from this book and not to forget Lying Cat, an amazing feline who detects when someone is lying. If that’s not genius I don’t know what is.

The Will and Lying Cat

Thomas & January Thomas and January is the second installment of ”Sleepless” series. A perfect romantic novel for romance lovers. I absolutely loved ”Callum & Harper” by Fisher Amelie so picked up ”Thomas & January” but didn’t like it as much as I liked the first book.

Thomas Eriksson fled to NY, he is a former musician and now a music scout. His whole persona from Callum & Harper did a complete turnabout, he went from being tie-dye Tom to dark, moody, heart broken, sad and mysterious Tom. He is trying to forget Kelly, his best friend who is getting married soon.

January MacLochlainn, the eldest of ten children has left a scholarship at Berkeley to pursue a career in the music world where her passion truly lies and she really has good ears for music.

When they meet they share a kiss, but they never knew this one kiss can turn their life upside down.

I liked this adorable love story, but didn’t like how it started. Don’t you think 2 strangers kissing each other for the first time with out even bothering to introduce themselves is bit weird? Other than that everything was good. My rating: 3 out of 5. It is  good time pass read. I read this book in one sitting.

Eleanor & Park I have been seeing a lot of reviews about this book almost everywhere. Everyone was talking about it so I thought why not read and see. It was a joy to read, the story and romance were lovely and I couldn’t help but utterly fall in love with the characters of Eleanor and Park. Sweet romance between two misfit people and the trouble in their life is really interesting. But I am furious and not satisfied with the ending, I mean it’s good and all but it is not perfect ending in my opinion.

Love blooms between two misfit  people, Eleanor being a misfit and always standing out because of her weight, bright red curly hair, awkwardness, and funky outfits. Park being a misfit because of the fact that he is the only Asian kid in the entire school. These characters are very close to real life people and you might find the stereotype characters of this book in real life too.

Eleanor character is not easy to like as she lacks confidence and sometimes seems lame but Park’s character is more likable. There was nothing to cry at the end as many people have mentioned in their reviews. Ending was little unpredictable if you consider Eleanor’s character you might be thinking about different ending. I am not disappointed here because I enjoyed this author’s writing style. My rating: 3 out of 5. Its quite unique and special, and it is one of those books you really have to discover for yourself because whatever I say may not make sense with out really reading it yourself. Other than unresolved ending everything was good.
