Sarpa SambandhaSarpa Sambandha is the second installment in Matagathi series. This book goes to extremes of black magic. Tejamma is back with a special weapon this time – Snake’s revenge. People who didn’t read the first book, probably will not get the clear story if they are reading this book directly. So its better to read the first book ”Matagathi” where you will get to know the characters.

After defeating Tejamma, Agninatha and Niharika are into simple life away from dark magic. But once a person gets into the dark world there is no way out for him. Tejamma is back like phoenix with more power this time, only way to stop her from acheiving what  she was stopped from acheiving last time is Agninatha and Niharika. This time war is more dangerous and cruel with snakes in evil’s side.

I enjoyed reading this book, ,y rating: 4 out of 5. It is amazing story of horror and dark magic in Kannada novel field.  Hopefully someone will think of translating it into English  so that non kannadigas can enjoy reading it.

Matagathi ”Matagathi” by Ravi Belagere is an excellent book I re- read last year. It is in Kannada language, a regional language of  Karnataka(one of the states of India). Many years back I read  it for the first time from my school library  and liked the storyline. This book is about Black Magic and fight between good and evil. You might have heard about Black magic and witchcrafts around European countries but in India it has different dimensions.  It is more horrifying and hell lot of difficult for one to achieve this power. There are cults and tribes continuing this type of culture for real, away from modern generation. I have no idea how true it is but I have read and heard a lot of things about them. This book was not listed in Goodreads, so I had to add this book there before rating. This book must be a work of fiction but the procedures, things and facts involved about black magic are for real.

Matagathi means the lady who does black magic, more or less like a witch. This is the story of a ruthless lady named Tejamma, whose hunger for more power killed a lot of innocent people and started wars between powerful people. She used everyone who helped her to climb the steps to achieve magic and killed them heartlessly. Her husband and his entire family was killed for her to gain great power. But there is only one person who can beat her down that is Agninath from a special tribe called ”Aghoras”. Its a horrifying tale of dark magic and the procedures involved to get the power is shocking. It can shake anyone who reads about black magic and steps involved to get it right.

My rating: 4 out of 5. It has a sequel named ” Sarpa Sambandha” where a lot of dark magic and snakes are involved. Not a very pleasant topic but interesting. I have already read that book, I will be reviewing it soon.

Jugari Cross of KPPTKannada language is the first language I learned to speak as a baby. And its the first one I learned to read and write. Even though now I don’t read and write much of it, I always have a warm feeling towards this language. Because this language is close to my heart and more than anything its mine. I have read lot of novels in Kannada, in fact first novel I read was Kannada novel ”Navilu Thota” (Meaning: Peacock Garden) which was translation of some Hindi or Urdu novel I don’t remember now. There are lot of famous novelists like Kuvempu, S. L Bhyrappa, Girish Karnad, Triveni, K. P Purnachandra Tejaswi.

This novel Jugari is written by K.P Purnachandra Tejaswi. Jugari Cross is for real, it is actual place in Karnataka. I have never been there so I hope geography mentioned in this story is also real. It is a super suspense thriller woven around the  incidents that occur with an ordinary  couple’s life. But if you think it is going to be a romantic novel then you are wrong. It has philosophy, literature, the principles of global economies and also about Mafia gang. Suresh and Gowri are couples who are about to sell cardamom in market. But instead of getting few thousands they get Lacks for their Cardamom which is quite unbelievable. Till then everything is slow moving but after that it is run for life. There are people following them but not sure for what. Meanwhile on his run with his wife, Suresh meets his college friend Rajappa who  mysteriousely bumped into him with a book which has more than what a normal person should know. Now Suresh knows whats happening around him.

I liked Suresh and Gowri’s character because they are way cooler than what I expected them to be. Sometimes it is funny how Gowri is so careless. I totally enjoyed reading this book. I read it with in 2 days, actually I could have read it in a day but then I was at my parents place and I was visiting my patents after a year so had lots to talk to them. This book was lying in my mom’s bookshelf and couldn’t resist 🙂 It is really a wonderful read.

My rating: 4 out of 5. This book is translated to English, if someone is interested in wonderful thriller can buy this book from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/search?index=books&linkCode=qs&keywords=1450573525
