My Horizontal Life- A collection of one night standsChelsea Handler is a comedienne best known for her show, Chelsea Lately, as well as her previous books (Are You There Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea and Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang). As the title indicates, this book contains several funny incidents about authors one night stands. Here author tells the disasters of one night stands she has experienced in her life.

Chelsea isn’t shy and she loves a lot of men, which lead to a lot of night stands.  In MY HORIZONTAL LIFE Chelsea chronicles her escapades with a Vegas stripper, a well endowed little person, a cruise ship performer, her landlord, her gynecologist, a Washington politician with a coke habit, black men, Latino men, small penised men. And also she tries to get her virgin roommate to have some fun with men by hooking her up, which ends in even more big disaster.

After reading this book it seems like author really has got this slutty streak, whatever! but this book was hilarious. But I enjoyed her previous book- ”Are you there Vodka? It’s me Chelsea” better. My rating: 3 out of 5. It was a light and funny read.

More weird things customers say in bookshopsCustomer: (Holding a copy of a Weight Watchers book in one hand, and The Hunger Games in the other) Which of these dieting books would you recommend most?

Customer: I don’t like biographies. The main character pretty much always dies in the end. It’s so predictable!

”More weird things customers say in Bookshops” is the second installment in the series. As this 2nd book was available I just jumped to read it with out waiting to read the first book. Jen Campbell wrote a blog about peculiar things customers say in bookshops and then published the first book- ”weird things customers say in Bookshops” which was huge success and popular among book lovers.

This book is hilarious and really funny. Few incidents are crazy like one customer asking for signed copy of Bible 🙂 I wonder how this people can survive in real life, being so ignorant. Jen Campbell collected incidents from her experience and also some from other shops/libraries. I will definitely read the first book in the series. My rating: 3 out of 5. Recommended to book lovers out there.

Are you there vodka it's me ChelseaChelsea Handler is a great writer. I have never seen any of her TV shows but I am sure it will be total fun to watch her performing. This book is witty, hilarious and absolute fun, or whatever way you want to describe comedy. I think I love her, she brings out the evil maniacal laugh in me. But everything in here is not mean comedy. I was sitting at my desk at work,  just laughing out loud and generally annoying my co-workers.

There is no proper story line as this book contains the incidents from author’s life. So I am not going to review this book. Here I will mention some hilarious sentences from this book, which made me laugh out loud.

  • “I went out with a guy who once told me I didn’t need to drink to make myself more fun to be around. I told him, I’m drinking so that you’re more fun to be around.”
  • “Obviously, if I was serious about having a relationship with some one long-term, the last people I would introduce him to would be my family.”
  • ”My negotiation skills are are on par with George Bush’s reading ability. And just like Dubya, every time I’ve tried to put forth an effort, I am reminded that my only true strength lies in drinking.”
  •  Our dog, Whitefoot, had died four months earlier, the day after my mother passed away. People say that pets can sense when one of their owners is dead, and I definitely believe that to be true. However, my father has convinced himself that Whitefoot died of a broken heart, when, in fact, I believe it was a suicide. Had we notfound him lying dead next to an empty bottle of Tylenol PM and what appeared to be the beginning stages of a suicide note, I would also have believed he died from sadness. I couldn’t blame Whitefoot. The thought of spending the rest of my life alone with my father would drive me to take my own life too”

My rating : 4 out of 5. Best book to read for time pass and laugh out loud.

diary-of-a-wimpy-kid 1Its better to read something light and different once in while,so I thought of reading dairy of a wimpy kid. I watched the movie based on this books long back and liked it. There are very few characters in this book and specialty of this book is its in the form of journal with pretty amazing doodles all over.

Story revolves  around Greg who is the owner and writer of the journal. His mom buys him a diary for his birthday when he asks her to buy him a journal. He writes pretty much everything what happens in his life, it is more like day to day updates about his friends, school and family drama. He wants to get popular in his school and want to make it to the school annual book. He comes up with all weird ideas to do that but somehow his one and only best friend Rowley gets more popular and his cartoon becomes hit in school. So what happens to his dream to be popular is main story here.

This book is very funny and fast going. I liked both the movie and book.  This is total entertainment not only for children but for all age groups. Go for it Zoo- wee- mama…. 🙂

bloodsucking fiendsLife can be really tough for a girl in her 20’s trying to maintain relationship, job and suddenly waking up a vampire. I know how it sounds crazy right! ”Blood sucking fiends” is a vampire story with lots of humor in it. I think it should come with a label: Make sure you read it alone, when you laugh aloud reading this book people may think you have lost your mind 🙂 I totally liked author’s writing style a wonderful tale of  Vampire girl.

Jody never asked to be a vampire but one evening she was forced to become one, when she woke up she was no more human, she can feel it with her supernatural strength, thirst for blood and fast heeling power. She meets ( by coincident) C. Thomas Flood, a writer ( or wanna be writer) who’s in San Francisco with little money and a place to share with 5 Chinese men and works in Garvey yard  shift with group of people called as ”Animals”. She moves in with him to an apartment where they can stay together by helping each other. She can pay bills and take care of money and he can do day time works which she cant go out and do due to sun light. From there the real twist starts, there is a elder vampire killing people and making it look like Jody and Tommy are responsible for that. What is the suspense? Where it takes them? What is Tommy’s story and what will he do when he learns that he is staying with vampire?

Although the book has the sub-title “A Love Story” tagged on to it, I don’t particularly think of this as a romance novel. It is a humorous story, filled with weird but funny characters. I would recommend this to Vampire fiction fans. Its actually trilogy with 2 more books as sequels

You Suck

Bite Me

This is the funniest well written book I have read in years, just love it ❤  I liked every character in this book. No word to explain, it’s so hilarious and lively type of writing. It had everything in it, romance, emotions, comedy and more than anything lots of laugh!

It’s about a young girl, Evie Dexter who takes up a job of tour guide ( by telling lies in the interview about prior experience 🙂 ) From the very beginning she falls into troubles and manages somehow, but it would have been easy if she didn’t fall for sexy, handsome coach driver Rob. Her life is so busy with her new job, sexy boyfriend, ultimate drama with her family. How she manages this new job? What happens to her love life? What exactly happens in Paris? For answers you will have to read the book.

I should say that this novel is full of drama and comedy. At some point I stopped reading and laughed aloud. I will recommend this book to people who are looking for some exiting, funny read. It’s Molly Hopkins’s debut novel. There is a sequel releasing this year- It happened in Venice. Hope that will be as good as this book.

Nobody wants to look fat. Every woman dreams about getting a slim figure so that she can wear what she wants. Woman follow diet rules for getting the desired body. Can’t die for size zero is a hilarious, fun filled novel which describes the trouble of a working class lady, Joyeeta Naik who finds it hard not to eat or follow diet. She has got taste buds for real food.

The real struggle starts when she fails to find the fashionable dress for herself. All fashionable  dress are made for slim ladies when she finds out that  she wants to find the solution for that and put an end to the humiliation and trouble the fat ladies go through. Will she succeed in that? Will she get love of her life?. Author described that the” Huge people have huge heart” in a wonderful way.

Author has described different variety of food through out the story, which will keep your mouth watering. A very good story, both food for body and soul.
