Getting Over Garrett Delaney”Getting Over Garrett Delaney” it sounds more like a movie title. I picked this chick flick recently and enjoyed reading it. Some books just have every perfect element and this book is one of them. A romantic comedy plot suitable for teenagers as well. Sadie has been in love with her best-friend Garrett for two years, which is totally one sided love. He’s just broken up with his latest girlfriend, so this is finally Sadie’s chance to turn their friendship into more. But fate deceives her and she she is not accepted for a 6 weeks camp to which she decided to go with Garrett. Garrett goes alone and after going there he right away falls for another girl and it beaks Sadie’s heart again. She has to find her identity as her entire life was built around  Garrett now she needs to break it and come outside. Sadie ends up getting a job at her favorite local coffeehouse and starts becoming friends with her co-workers who make rules to stay away from Garrett the heart breaker. Will Sadie succeed to keep him away once he is back in town? What will she do to get her identity back?

It is good read with lot of humor in it. My rating: 3 out of 5. I recommend this to chick flick and YA fans.

Loosing my Virginity and other dumb ideasLooking at the fancy title and attractive cover page I decided to buy this book. Some of the of the books by Indian authors are not available in UAE, so 2 months back when I went to India for a vacation  I tried to get as many books as possible. And ended up buying 2 books from this same author by mistake.

Kaveri the protagonist of the novel is turning thirty but she is still a virgin. So far she never had a steady relationship or one night stand. She has been waiting for a right person to come, fall in love and then get married to him. But one fine day she realizes that it was a big mistake to wait and she wants to loose her virginity. With the help of her friend Aditi she finds suitable men and goes out with them for dates but likes none. After few unsuccessful dates she finds this intellectual, Greek god like man and falls for him and looses her virginity. But this Greek god is already married! Now her task is to find what she really wants from her life.

This book has  lot of twists and good humor. In few places you might find Kaveri’s character very silly. But then it is a chick lit what else to expect? It is a good time pass read. My rating: 2 out of 5. 1 star for Humor and one for fancy title.

This is a nice chick flick but can call it most controversial book of the season. It was blamed that this story contains some copyright paragraphs from other book. The punishment given to this author was very strict. I had to buy a pirated copy as the originals have all been taken away from the market.

Lets not bother about the controversies. I liked the story becuase I felt the narration was so perfect. Its a story about a teenager called Opal an Indian but  living  in America. She is always into books and its her parents dream that she should get in to Harvard. She got all the abilities to get into harvard. But she doesn’t get admission because the dean says that Opal needs to get a social life like other teenagers  as Harvard does not need book addict nerds who do not know how to have a social life. That’s when the problem begins when her parents think about a crazy idea of getting her a social life.

Its a nice young adult story described in a funny and fresh way. I liked the story. What will happen to Opal’s Harvard dream? What is this crazy plan of getting social life? to find out read the book 🙂
