Saga Volume 2

I am pulling out the 5 stars, if you are a close follower of my blog you will know that I don’t do this often. But this book compelled me to do that. From starting to beginning the book was so fresh and stimulating. Brian K Vaughan’s epic Saga continues, as does the awesomeness from the first volume! If you haven’t read the first volume then better pick that up before you start reading this volume.

A couple of star-crossed lovers from two different species  who are on opposing sides of a danderous war are on the run in a wooden rocket ship with their infant daughter and her ghost babysitter. What can be more exciting than this? But baby Hazel has this strange adventure to face- her grand parents.

Saga Volume 2

I am so in love with this series. I wish I could get my hands on volume 3 as soon as possible. This is totally 6 out of 5 stars category. You will agree with me after looking at this picture of our handsome hero from the book 🙂

Saga Volume 2

Second Summer of the Sisterhood”The Second Summer of the Sisterhood” is the second installment in Sisterhood series. I read this book because I liked the first book so much. Traveling pants and the the way they travel around the friends by bringing luck and keeping the friendship strong is a unique and wonderful concept.

Lena, Tibby, Carmen and Bridget had to spend another summer apart from each other. Just like the last summer they have the company of wonderful magic pants. They all face happy and sad moments in this summer. Now that they have got traveling pants will they turn their luck into good? Whats the story of this four girls in the second summer apart from each other?

I am glad that the ending was not predictable. After reading this book I am  little hurt and happy at the same time. I recommend this book to YA fiction fans. If you are looking for a light summer read, then this book is perfect. I would suggest you to pick up the first book before you jump into this, becuase that way you will be more attached to the girls and will be more comfortable with the story. My rating: 3.5 out of 5.

Out for Blood ”Out for Blood” is the 3rd installment in Drake Chronicles, a unique vampire series.I am not thrilled with this series, I liked the first book but then I kind of lost interest. It follows the same pattern in every book, Drake brothers and their forbidden love. I wish there was better character development for the main characters. Drake brothers are bad ass- handsome vampires but they fall for different kind. First one fell for a human, second for a hound princess and the third brother for vampire hunter. The whole bombardment of different and unique words to this story is making it annoying at times.

Hunter Wild comes from an ancient vampire hunter family. She is studying at the secret Helios-Ra Academy, where she is going through last year of training. Quinn is one of the Drake Bothers who is handsome but player. Hunter can’t fall for him going against entire league of vampire hunters and more than anything against her grand father who believes that vampires exists to be killed. There is an evil plan going on against the vampire hunters at school. What is the danger lurking in the school building? Will she keep her heart in control and away from Quinn?

My rating: 2 out of 5. It is nothing to do with the book, I was kind of bored with the plot and underdeveloped characters. But I am definitely going to read the remaining books as  have challenged myself to read the entire series! sounds crazy but true 🙂

Last Sacrifice”Last Sacrifice” is the final installment in Vampire Academy series. Rose is the number one reason that this series has lost its appeal to me. I liked the first few books in the series, but then Rose changed completely and I couldn’t bring myself to like this book. I found her to be egotistical, selfish,  impulsive and insensitive. I have finally finished the series and I deserve a meddle now.

When I first started the series the unique concept of vampire politics and the the whole Strigoi – Moroi thing seemed worthwhile. But then the last two books were basically centered around Rose and her undying love for Dmitri which really annoyed me. She had Adrian who was better person than Dmitri and she still wanted to play with his feelings by hurting him and drooling all over Dmitri. I don’t understand why girls always fall for jerks in the vampire novels. Like Jacob in Twilight here Adrian was rejected. I felt sad for him and hated Rose for using him.

Rose is a victim of foul play, she is getting punished for the crime she never committed. She has to find the another surviving Dragomir, Lisa’s half sister so that Lisa can get voting rights and Rose can free herself from the crime she never committed. But for that she has to run away from the prison. Will she succeed in this adventure of finding another Dragomir? Will she be able to prove her innocence in the murder of vampire queen? Who is playing these games and what do they want?

I am not happy with how the story ended. I liked Lisa a lot better than Rose and at the end both proved to be selfish. My rating: 2 out of 5. I read this just becuase I wanted to complete and get a closure to this series.

Zom-B Baby Creepiest cover ever! This covers gives me chills. There is one thing about Darren Shan’s books, you think you have an idea what the book is about and all of a sudden you realize that you know nothing about it. Zom-B Baby is the 5th installment of Zom-B series and in this book B must decide whether or not to join the Angels in battling freaky and dangerous clown Mr.Dowling and the mutants.

B is not sure what to believe and what not. She has been training and living with angels for past few months but still she is not able to believe in their motto. She has to think about it so she runs away from there searching for an answer. But soon she has to go through the same streets of London she passed few months ago, filled with walking dead people. But instead of answers to her questions she finds something horrible and more dangerous thing ever.

I don’t want to add any spoilers in my review. When you read it you will come to know what is this horrible thing she found. My rating: 3.5 out of 5. It was really a good read, I finished reading in one sitting. This series is getting more and more creepy. I am now ready to read the next book in the series- Zom-B Gladiator.

Girl in the MirrorShort stories are not my type, I always pick novels over short stories. But I am a huge fan of Cecelia Ahern’s writing so how can I not pick up her book? I must say while I enjoyed the two stories, I was left feeling unsatisfied, not because they were badly written but because the stories were so gripping I wished they were longer. More explanation could have been good. I wonder why she didn’t think about writing a novel with this material.

First story is about the girl in the mirror, it gave me creeps, I felt as if it ended abruptly. If this short story was of novel length it could have been twisted in several ways and I would have enjoyed reading a horror novel. Second story is about ‘The Memory Maker’ a man who invented a machine to hold onto his past. I didn’t understand the message at the end completely but it was a good read. I would prefer if these two stories were separate novels.

My rating: 3 out of 5. If you are a Cecelia Ahern fan or you like to read short stories then this book is recommended for you.

ONYXOnyx is the second installment in YA series-Lux. It was not a bad book but still I felt a bit disappointed. It had somewhat same story line as the first book but this time with a tangy twist. I loved the main characters and their chemistry was amazing. Other than the main characters there was nothing to focus on the story. Only in the last half of the story important things started to unfold.

After the dramatic twist from the first book thanks to Daemon’s alien powers Katy has this strong connection with him. But Daemon tries to prove that the feeling between them is real not just becuase some alien mojo. Where Katy is trying to keep away from him, he is determined to prove is feelings. There is this new boy in school who is interested in Katy. Will this new boy can take away her mind from her hot alien? There seems to be bigger problem than this, there are some secrets to reveal and fights to face. Trust is hard to come when there is someone very close is involved.

My rating: 3 out of 5. This book is kind of my guilty pleasure I am definitely going to read the rest of the books in this series.
