This Girl ”This Girl” is the final installment in ”Slammed series”. I’m going to start off by saying-I’m not a huge fan of books which are just a retelling of a previous book from a different point of view. Just becuase I enjoyed the first 2 books in the series I picked up this book. I knew from the beginning that there is nothing going to be new about the story.

This Girl takes place immediately after Will and Layken get married. They are lounging around in their hotel room talking about the past when Lake decides she wants to hear Will’s story of how they got together and what followed after that. It was more like a summery of previous books and if I start reviewing more I will give out the spoilers for those. So I  won’t go into detailed review. I felt like I was stuck in one of those TV series episodes where they all tell stories of what happened to them and they show the old shows within the new one,if you know what I mean.

My rating is 3 out of 5. I wanted to give 2 but then I changed my mind and gave 3. I am sorry to say that this felt like an unnecessary telling of a story already beautifully told.

pretty when she destroysAt last, here I am reviewing the final installment of ”Pretty when she dies” series. It was really an exciting and powerful journey through the world of vampires and their special abilities. This series caught my attention from the beginning, becuase there was a unique story line to it. Other than usual blood sucking vampires there were vampires with different abilities like Necromancy and waking the dead.

The Summoner’s power did not diminish with his death, he is planing to bring the end to the world by bringing endless night. Where vampires can rule by feasting on mortals. But  Amaliya and her gang is ready to fight till the end to stop him. Now that Samantha knows her powers and can use it along with Amaliya, Summoner has a new problem to face. But will this be enough to defeat him? Will she be able to fight him, when she is still feeling attracted to him?

It was a good  read, and I recommend this to vampire fiction fans. My rating: 3 out of 5.

A Beuatiful Evil ‘A Beautiful Evil’ is second book in Gods and Monsters series. I read the first installment in the Gods & Monsters trilogy recently and fell in love with it. I was blown away with the setting as well as the mythological elements and while I did feel that a lot of that was a bit lacking compared to the first, then still it is a worthy follow up.

Athena has Ari’s father and Violet. Ari is learning how to fight Athena, all her strength and weakness. Under the threat of her Medusa curse she does not have much time to waste. Now that people are supportive of her idea she has access to ancient library. With little bit research and lot of  training she is now ready to take down Athena. But the war is not that easy as she thought. Her loved ones are at stake here, Athena is threatening to destroy her by using this weakness.

There were few things I didn’t like, for example Athena and Ari attacking and withdrawing many times. I don’t see why there should be more meetings between this two when there is not going to be any real action. And I hated Ari whining at everything like how her life was sad and how she hated the training. My rating- 3 out of 5.

Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea I’m kind of torn with this book. I am utterly uncertain about how I feel for this book. Did I love it or did I hate it? I really don’t know. Set up and atmosphere gets 5 stars but mystery and romance is what I didn’t quite buy as much as I wanted to.

Violets parents have been in Paris for months now. They are off exhibiting their paintings there, leaving Violet with her brother Luke. When they run out of money violet decides to rent out the guesthouse and a teenager named River West comes to live in their guesthouse. But strange things begin to happen around and their small town is in chaos. Violet’s grandmother always warned her about the Devil, but she never said he could be a dark haired sexy teenager for whom violet will fall for.

I liked the story, it was really creepy and for some odd reasons I like creepy stories. If you are looking for a good paranormal mystery with a little Gothic touch then this is perfect choice. My rating: 3 out of 5.

Hannibal RisingHannibal Rising is the final installment in Hannibal Lecter series. This story is about Hannibal Lecter’s childhood and the time before he became ”Hannibal the Cannibal”. I loved the first two books in the series and from the third book it went down hill for me. Seriously what is it? mockery at him, the genius of a cannibalistic serial killer. A huge disappointment. I had my hopes way up. Who can blame me? Red Dragon and The Silence of the Lambs were freaking masterpieces. Probably, had I read it before knowing who Hannibal Lecter was, I would’ve enjoyed it more.

Hannibal Lecter was not a killer by birth, there were some situations made him to do it and molded him to what he became later. He was found mute, a chain attached to his neck. His uncle and his beautiful wife, Lady Murasaki took him in. But he is not alone, he has his demons with him in his mental palace. Slowly he tries to visit his demons and gets his memory refreshed. As he becomes friends with this demons, he becomes death’s prodigy.

you were to keep aside the fact that you do not know Hannibal Lecter and none of his traits, then you might enjoy this read. My rating: 2 out of 5.

Second grave on the left Second Grave on the Left is the second book in Charley Davidson series. Sadly this one didn’t grab me as much as the first book. It was still funny and I love how cool Charley is in all her crazy situations and was glad that I got to know cookie better but Reyes was missing from the book. I liked the romance between Reyes and Charley in the previous book but here there was no such thing. There was also so much going on and so many names being thrown around. All the action, the lack of many strong character interaction left me feeling a little disappointed. I’m still having trouble with the way Charley’s narration, which seems to jump from here to there in nanoseconds. The story is all over the place and kind of a mess to read.

Reyes is still missing and charley has to digest her new knowledge about him being son of satan and key to hell.  But there are other problems like Cookie’s friend Mimi is gone missing mysteriously leaving a message behind for Charley and there is someone who wants to kill her family for revenge. Reyes has left his corporeal body and is haunting Charley. He’s left his body because he’s being tortured by demons who want to lure Charley closer. But Reyes can’t let that happen. Because if the demons get to Charley, they’ll have a portal to heaven.

I am still unaware of her abilities and limitations. Its like even after reading the 2nd book story is incomplete. My rating: 3 out of 5 (actually 2.5 but there is no option of 0.5 in goodreads!) Overall it is a time pass read.

The truth about forever

”For any one of us our forever could end in an hour, or a hundred years from now. You can never know for sure, so you’d better make every second count.”

I have been reading a lot of Sarah Dessen’s books lately. It’s like really light and refreshing summer read. Nothing makes me smile more than a coming-of-age romance, that has genuine heart and plenty of laughs and not to forget ‘Food’.

Macy has to work at boring job in the library while her boyfriend is away at a brain camp. Jason is all she has got, no friends no life apart from him. But when he is gone for summer away from her, she has to look forward to a long, hot and boring summer with out him. Her family is still silently mourning for traumatic loss of Macy’s father. When everything was going plain and slow she gets a part time job at catering service. From then her exciting summer starts. When she meets Wes, a boy with genuine heart- her world spins upside down. Slowly Macy starts to come out of her shell she starts to enjoy the simple things life offers.

Every character was wonderful especially the catering crew was amazing. I highly recommend this book to YA fans, and it is a must read for Sarah Dessen’s fans. My rating 3 out of 5. I was bit bored in the starting but rest was interesting and fast read.
