ObsidianObsidian is the first book in Lux series. Its a romantic YA novel, where the love blooms between an alien and human. Its kinda different concept and easy going novel.

Katy had to re-start her life in a new place after her father’s death and she comes to West Virginia from Florida. Katy meets her next door neighbors, twins Dee and Daemon. While she and Dee instantly hit it off, Daemon acts like a total jerk and makes some cryptic comments about Katy which makes her want to kill him. But he is hot (Omigod hot 😉 ) and she can’t resist falling for him. But soon she realizes that there is something wrong with the way Daemon, Dee and their friends are behaving and in the way local people treating them. But when Daemon saves her fro the attacker she comes to know the truth.

My rating: 3 out of 5. It is a good red, but at some point I was really bored of Alein mambo jumbo. I recommend this to YA fiction fans, but be aware of Alein myths.

chain reactionChain reaction is the 3rd book in Perfect Chemistry series. First book – Perfect Chemistry was enchanting, but then the author tried to bring the same love story again and failed in other two books. I would not say it was total failure because it got really good ratings on Goodreads but then it does not have the same charm as the first one.  Unfortunately same concept didn’t work well again, with out charm, Bummer.

Nikki Cruz  once cheated by a boy, lives with certain rules in her life. Don’t trust a boy who says I love you and never date a boy from the south side of Fairfield because they all end up in gang, brotherhood before girlfriend. But  when she meets  Luis at his brother Alex’s  wedding she finds herself attracted to him. Luis is just like how his brothers were, ready to fight danger. But Brotherhood is planning something against his family and soon he will have to join the group to stop them from hurting them. Will Nikki fall in love with someone who wants to join the gang? What is this big plan which will soon change everything in  Fuentes brothers lives.

I am impressed how author can still write a book with same concept, rich girl falling for poor bad boy. I hear there is 4th book coming soon. I don’t know what will be the story, now that all  Fuentes brothers are done falling in love. My rating: 3 out of 5. I wanted to give 2.5 but then I am a sucker for love stories, so ended up rating it 3.

The goddess testThe Goddess Test by Aimee Carter is the first book in Goddess Test series. I love reading stories related to Greek Mythology and I have this burning passion to know more. So obviously when I came to know about this book’s concept I just wanted to read it. Greek Mythology has some of most entertaining, delightful and sinful stories.

This book is about a test, Kate is the chosen one for this test. She had made a deal with dark and handsome Henry who claims to be Hades, god of the Underworld. Kate is not really in a mood for this game because her mother is sick and soon will be dying. But when Henry brings her friend back from death and agrees to keep her mother alive till she is ready to say her goodbye she agrees for this bargain. Now she is stuck in a big palace training for her big test. But soon she realizes that there is no way to go back if she fails, because every girl who had taken the test has died.

It is a interesting read, I finished this book in a day. But some parts are poorly written but  I enjoyed reading this modern tale of Greek gods. I never read much about Hades because he is always considered as terrifying one with no mercy. But this story gives completely different opinion about his character. My rating: 3 out of 5.

Sarpa SambandhaSarpa Sambandha is the second installment in Matagathi series. This book goes to extremes of black magic. Tejamma is back with a special weapon this time – Snake’s revenge. People who didn’t read the first book, probably will not get the clear story if they are reading this book directly. So its better to read the first book ”Matagathi” where you will get to know the characters.

After defeating Tejamma, Agninatha and Niharika are into simple life away from dark magic. But once a person gets into the dark world there is no way out for him. Tejamma is back like phoenix with more power this time, only way to stop her from acheiving what  she was stopped from acheiving last time is Agninatha and Niharika. This time war is more dangerous and cruel with snakes in evil’s side.

I enjoyed reading this book, ,y rating: 4 out of 5. It is amazing story of horror and dark magic in Kannada novel field.  Hopefully someone will think of translating it into English  so that non kannadigas can enjoy reading it.

The Scorch TrialsThe Scorch Trials by James Dashner is the second installment in Maze runner series. I loved the first book ”The Maze Runner” an amazing story about teenagers trapped in a maze. Compared to the first book, The Scorch Trials is slow moving and dull story.

Thomas and the team from Maze were rescued dramatically in the first book and the story picks up exactly from where the first book ended. They all sleep safe and sound but wake up to missing Theresa and a new game. This time they are not trapped in a maze but they are free in a desert, with a goal to reach. But they can reach their goal only if they are not burned alive in the desert. Whose side is Theresa? Where did she disappear? Who is the new kid in the group?

This book is structured very differently than the first book, thats the reason some people ( including me ) prefer the first book. Maze runner was in neat and tidy format, on the other hand this book has lot of uncertainty. I totally didn’t get the concept of torturing some poor kids in the name of experiments for saving the human race when none of these makes any sense. I felt as if this WICKED team is some kind of game making team where they gamble over children. My rating: 3 out of 5. I wanted to give 2 because nothing in this book made sense to me but I gave one extra and made it 3 for the extraordinary imagination in this book.
