This is the funniest well written book I have read in years, just love it ❤  I liked every character in this book. No word to explain, it’s so hilarious and lively type of writing. It had everything in it, romance, emotions, comedy and more than anything lots of laugh!

It’s about a young girl, Evie Dexter who takes up a job of tour guide ( by telling lies in the interview about prior experience :) ) From the very beginning she falls into troubles and manages somehow, but it would have been easy if she didn’t fall for sexy, handsome coach driver Rob. Her life is so busy with her new job, sexy boyfriend, ultimate drama with her family. How she manages this new job? What happens to her love life? What exactly happens in Paris? For answers you will have to read the book.

I should say that this novel is full of drama and comedy. At some point I stopped reading and laughed aloud. I will recommend this book to people who are looking for some exiting, funny read. It’s Molly Hopkins’s debut novel. There is a sequel releasing this year- It happened in Venice. Hope that will be as good as this book.

Books

I have decided to buy at least one book per month and now I have taken the grand step towards that. Yuppie! I bought 3 books this month, that too highly recommended books. I covered Feb to Apr by buying 3 books together. Cant wait to read them, but first I have to finish the books in my reading list. I am currently reading ”Pride and Prejudice” and ”It happened in Paris”.  Book which I started and quit reading this month is ”One day”( it is not bad, I will restart reading it someday)

Thanks to all book lovers who kept supporting and recommending books. Please share which books you like and why you would like to recommend.

This is collection of short stories. Mainly contains a great collection  of paranormal or supernatural stories from Victorian era, first published in 1914, two years after Stoker’s death. It also contains a deleted first chapter from novel ”Dracula”.

But it took me ‘forever’ to read this book. I kept putting it down and not really wanting to pick it back. I found it little extra detailed about the places, houses and surroundings. But its fascinating and kind of exploration of the origins of the vampire in modern literature. I would recommend this book to patient readers who are ready to read all descriptions even though it seems  unnecessary sometimes.

It includes-

  • “Dracula’s Guest”
  • “The Judge’s House”
  • “The Squaw”
  • “The Secret of the Growing Gold”
  • “A Gipsy Prophecy”
  • “The Coming of Abel Behenna”
  • “The Burial of the Rats”
  • “A Dream of Red Hands”
  • “Crooken Sands”

I should warn you that all stories are not about vampires. Only Dracula’s guest is  vampire related( as it is believed as deleted first chapter from novel ”Dracula”), rest are about different types of supernatural power.

There is no better hobby than reading! So I don’t need to think about improving my hobbies. I already have many hobbies to keep me happy and engaged. ( Thank God I am not that lazy on week days ).

Now I have to concentrate on other things. 5 things I plan to do apart from reading-

  1. Try not to close my eyes, or hide my face behind pillow or run away to bath room while watching a horror movie. ( Every time I do that while watching horror movie, so I have decided to try watching no matter what comes on screen)
  2. Get a job, that I love to do.( I don’t think everyone loves their job, so its important)
  3. Finish watching all movies which are in the ”Movies to watch list”. ( There are more than 100 movies)
  4. Find tops for my 2 new skirts. ( I know it seems easy, but I have been searching for almost more than 7 months now! thats why they are still new to me)
  5. Arrange my clothes and discover whats there in my wardrobe ( very tough!)

Hopefully I can finish these tasks soon. There is no time limit so I am not hurrying :)

abraham-lincoln-vampire-hunterAbraham Lincoln 16th president of United States, the brave fighter who fought against slavery. But he was a Vampire Hunter! The idea is interesting but the book is slow and boring. Abraham’s life was filled with disappointment and death, so his fictional secret life (killing vampires) fits strangely well with what we have historically documented. I would never read biography because I am not a fan of non fictional reading. I do well with some non fiction like reading articles, interesting topics and recipes but biography is not my reading choice. But by reading this book I almost read Abraham Lincoln’s  biography which is coated with fictional facts.

This book is a way of  retelling of Abe Lincoln’s life with the obvious addition of blood sucking undead. I like history, I always felt there is something in history which is unknown to mankind. This story is true biography ( as far as I know) and I should appreciate the author for taking this concept  that fits so well with the real story. There are lot of pictures which will add to the concept. And it has a little about his romance and first love too.

Story reveals the childhood disappointment of young Abraham as a child and his mothers supernatural death and his hatred towards Vampires. The secret his father kept so long is known to him and he wants to question the injustice of God on creating such devils to take lives of innocents. The way slaves were treated hurt his heart and the day he saw slaves were sold to Vampires he knew what he wanted to do, Freedom for everyone! After reading this book I studied a lot about Salve auctions, civil wars and Abraham Lincoln’s life and death by different sources.

The fact that Vampires feed on slaves and he fought to free them is a concept which makes you believe  that the concept is so real! But I should warn you that this book is slow going and kind of dry if you are looking for lot of adventures. I took 4 days( which is unbelieving a lot of time) to read this book. Over all its a good historic fiction with lot of information. There is a movie coming on June 22nd based on this novel, I cant wait to see how they adapted this book.  Because this book is finished kind of unfinished way.

I accidentally came across a title today(Its an old book)- Queen Victoria Demon hunter. Oh My God! Who knew this book was there :) May be I should try to read, in that way I will be able to read about Queen Victoria’s  life too.

The Second book of the Hunger games. After reading  the first book and watching the movie I couldn’t wait to read this book. I was planing to read this book by next month, because there are many books in the ”Yet to read list”. But I was getting restless without knowing whats next in Hunger games.

If you thought the Capitol couldn’t get any more twisted then you were wrong. Capitol has its own way to make people do what they want and for an extent they succeed in that. I finished reading this in 2 days! I thought first book was fantastic, so its sequel will not be that good. But oh boy! how can it be? I was wrong! Its amazing too.

But there is no dynamic fights as in first book. Catching fire is a good title to indicate that ”The girl on fire” is really on fire and she is catching fire :)  Yes exactly thats what happens in this book. Katniss’s world is on fire now! At the end I felt little lost, but it was shocking too. I don’t know from where author gets this ideas, but they are just incredible.Peeta is adorable as usual and all characters are good in their own way. I don’t want to talk about the story and spoil the fun for people who didn’t read but planning to read it.

Just love it and waiting to read the third book as soon as possible.

Did you ever imagine that the obedience is biggest curse? Imagine a life where you can’t say ”No”, and you will be obedient to everyone whether you want it or not.  Yes! Its horrible! Ella was gifted with obedience at her birth by a fairy. When people find out about the curse, they quickly learn to use it to their advantage. Obedience means, of course, that Ella must do whatever she is told, as long as it is issued as a command – not doing so causes physical hurting.

A journey to find Lucinda, the fairy who cursed her, leads to adventures , and finally the remarriage of her father puts Ella into the Cinderella story, as Ella becomes the unwilling servant of her stepmother and stepsisters because of so called ”Gift of obedience” by fairy.  Prince Char is in love with Ell but she cant marry him. There is a fairy god mother for Ella, who is that? How can she break the curse on her? Will she marry Prince Char?

I found this story interesting because it was brilliant way of telling fairy tale according to this generation style. I liked all the mythical creatures in the story and concept of different tongues. Over all its a enjoyable story. I am going to watch the movie”Ella Enchanted” based on this novel soon.
